When I was in my 3rd year of university, I stumbled upon a revelation, of sorts, that has totally shaped the path of my life ever since. That revelation is this: The answer to everything is Balance. I know that it sounds extremely general and simple, but for me it holds true in basically every aspect of life. If our cars have too much or too little oil, they won’t run properly – they need the proper balance. If there was all sun and no rain, then plants wouldn’t grow properly – again, they need a balance. If our relationships are all about giving and we don’t ever receive, they won’t be fair and mutual relationships – we need a balance.
I think this philosophy especially holds true in terms of health and wellness. The balance of nutrition, exercise, relaxation and social and spiritual growth are all vital parts of our health; and, we need to maintain the balance of each of these to obtain optimal health. That is why I chose to train in the field of naturopathic medicine. I am currently in my final internship year at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and I am extremely excited and honoured to be involved in patient care and education around finding the optimal balance of their health and wellness. I also look forward to a long career in this field – it is my hope to help people realize their health potentials.
Working here at The Pacific Wellness Institute is another avenue that allows me to participate in furthering client’s health and wellness. Though my actions may seem minute, I appreciate the opportunity to be involved in an atmosphere that fosters the same values of health, well-being and, of course, balance. |
